home the barn the studio the old mill directions information an idyllic spot for a short, medium or long break down a narrow lane, into a tiny river-valley, over a ford into an enchanting and secluded garden and you’re there: a small hamlet on a private estate with two self-catering properties. alsia mill lies on a quiet lane that runs down to sennen cove. we are in the heart of west penwith, six miles from penzance and three from land’s end, and a very long way from most places. the penwith peninsula, which lies west of a line running from mount’s bay to st ives, contains some of the most beautiful scenery and beaches in the country and some of its most important archaeological sites. the tate st ives is here, as well as the barbara hepworth museum and numerous private art galleries. the spectacular cliff-top minack theatre lies on the gorgeous south west coast path. close by are many of the best gardens in britain. penzance, st ives and st just are the fascinating towns, each very different from each other; the beautiful coastal villages of marazion, mousehole and sennen cove are all close by, and in st buryan, our nearest village, there is an important ancient church, as well as a general store, a post office and a pub, the st. buryan inn. immediately adjacent to us is the organic farm alsia cross market garden . the barn at alsia mill has full self-catering facilities, a big single room on the first floor with a lounge and dining kitchen area, bedroom and bathroom on the floor below. there is grassed private garden area to the side. the studio at alsia mill is reached by a set of steps and consists of a bedroom/lounge and adjoining kitchenette, also served by a bathroom with shower. folding doors to the front of the studio lead onto a private terrace looking down to the ford. the old mill itself is across from the barn. it last ground corn in the 1970s, and its internal workings are intact, but the leat was filled in, and the wheel has rotted away. one of the oldest buildings in penwith, it was once the manorial mill of st buryan. all this, combined with its friendly atmosphere, means you'll be assured of a relaxing and pleasurable stay. a slideshow of images from alsia mill penwith >>from wikipedia, the free encyclopedia penwith ( cornish : pennwydh) was a local government district in cornwall , england , united kingdom , whose council was based in penzance . read more... what a wonderful place for a holiday base, beautiful, quiet and central for all the western coast. a&g;, derbyshire home | the barn | the studio | the old mill | directions | information
